Big Salad Games was launched in February 2025 by hicksybreh (me), a solo dev from Brisbane, Australia. With the initial goal of purely getting ideas out of my mind and into the world, I am building my first few games largely with the help of talented freelancers to refine build and release methods over time, so I can slowly expand the scope of projects while I continue to learn.
My dream is to build deeply engaging and immersive gaming experiences which can be enjoyed by as many people as possible. I'm hugely inspired by the stories of games such as Minecraft, Stardew Valley and Dwarf Fortress - and the devs and communities behind making them come to being. Though as I saw the path of building these solo dev projects requiring learning every aspect of game development, I became impatient and thought - what if I get some help, there's loads of freelancers begging for work in the industry, and I can see what it really takes to do what some people say is one of the hardest things you can do - build video games!
It's April when I'm writing this, and my first project Bubble Buddies is nearly done... it's only been a couple months but WOW I've learned a lot, and I can't wait to share on social media with you what has, and what will happen as I continue on this journey. Chuck us a follow, and I hope you enjoy my games!
Our first project Bubble Buddies is currently in development, due to release as a free mobile download in May. Not long after, our second mobile title will be released as a paid game. View our games page for more info on upcoming projects.
In the second half of 2025, we are planning to build two games for PC, releasing on Steam. As these are early in concept phase, we will provide more details as they become available.
In 2026, we will update existing titles based on purchases and player feedback while continuing to release small scope games, with the platform depending on the performance of the 2025 releases. Towards the end of 2026, we will aim to increase our scope with larger projects. Follow hicksybreh on social media for the wild ride that is game development!
